All in all, a job well done, Mr. David—-here’s hoping that your next projects will show the same level of artistry and creativity that you brought to my favorite Marvel mutant book.
5 out of 5 stars
I have no idea what the future holds for the characters nor the title itself, but whoever it is had better have tremendous feet for the size of the shoes they have to fill.
3.5 out of 5
This final story arc wasn’t the series’ strongest, but if Peter David felt it was one that needed telling, I won’t begrudge him that.

Where “X-Factor” doesn’t succeed in any grand fashion is that it does so with little fanfare or panache — the issue isn’t so much a finale as it is just the end, whether you consider it the end of an era or something more grandiose than that. It’s simply the last outing of an otherwise monumental run, one that will define these characters for years.
Obviously, this is an absolute must-read for long-time X-Factor readers. By issue’s end, there isn’t so much a sense of finality as there is a feeling of resolution. There is a future for X-Factor somewhere (perhaps SHIELDy?), but this era, with this team, with this tone—that’s a closed book.
